Good value for the features November 27, 2009 L. D. Ho (Queens, NY USA) I just bought this all-in-one printer not long ago, so far so good, easy to install, test photo looks great, prints from the computer were good, print speed is actually better than i expected. I haven't got a chance to check all of the features yet, will update later. It does make a little noise when starting or finishing to print, however, this doesn't bother me, i guess all of the printers make noises.
great for home use :) November 19, 2009 J. Gillen (Topanga) its all good unpacked it plugged it in and started printing you can hear it all right but it works wonders
Seems To Do Everything But Take The Pictures November 18, 2009 Daniel L. Cardwell (Afghanistan) When you purchase this printer make sure you buy replacement ink cartriges with it. Like most ink jet printers, it's an 'ink hog'. With all the features that it has, CD printing, Photo printing, FAXing, copying, scanning, and document printing, it will be space that is well given up. The drivers, to date, have been working perfectly, but the Photosmart Essential program is a little too pedestrian for my taste...reminds me of programs dating back to the Koala pad.
The features and quality of this printer are well worth the price.
Nurse Pattye - says HP is ILL November 18, 2009 Taboo-Censurée (West Hills, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a Nurse and professional, I bought this HP thinking it would be a good replacement for the 6100 series I had. WRONG - it has a bunch of issues. Very finicky machine. It does not like to fax without manually feeding paper into feeder. It is constantly going offline from the wireless router. Unpredictable - Prints very slow at times, other times, speedy. Lots of chimes and whistles that I'd like to silence with a swift kick. I may return this one - The verdict is still out. We'll see if I can get past the quirks. 1-877-233-7394
Great printer with very poor software November 11, 2009 Gordon Rogers (Rocklin, CA United States) I know many wont believe me when I say that I tried for over 17 hours to install and use this printer with the remote control help of HP technical support. I am a network administrator, and consider my skills to be advanced when it comes to all things PC/Networks and Servers.
I tried to install the Photosmart software both from the internet and from the CD on two different newer Windows Vista machines. After my first 6 hour session on the phone with tech support while they remotely controlled my computer, I told them my experience would make an excellent Mac commercial.
Even though the printer could be pinged, AND I could browse to the web interface of the printer, the driver would not, and could not recognize the printer on the network. The HP technicians had me manually uninstall the software, uninstall and reinstall .NET, login as local admin all to no avail. I was originally attempting to connect via ethernet. Finally, one of the machines was able to connect through our wireless network, but then the connection would randomly turn off and on. When I would attempt to print, half the page would print and the driver would state that the printer was disconnected.
This is my third HP all-in-one. My OfficeJet G85 stopped functioning properly, so I purchased an OfficeJet Pro L7680 that went bad (had power problems) in a short year, now this. I have been a pretty loyal HP customer for many years. I cannot overstate my disappointment with the software on this Photosmart printer. Until they get their software quality problems sorted out, you might consider looking elsewhere. Personally, I am looking at the Epson Artisan 810 but haven't made up my mind yet. I am printerless in northern California.
