5 out of 5 stars Works perfect on my Macbook with Snow Leopard   November 24, 2009

Set up was really fast and easy on my macbook running snow leopard. The wireless set up was also easy since I have tried this with other printers and the set up was a headache. The quality of the prints are real good. I still prefer going to the lab since it is faster and convenient. But being able to print a few photo lab copies for friends and family is awesome. Printing speed is fast. The touch screen is great as well. It is very easy to use and follow. I love the fact that it is wireless. I can print from anywhere in my house and I can scan and have the image sent to my computer without being at my computer. Of course, that will only work if your computer is on. What makes this printer really great is being able to print from my iphone. My girlfriend who has a htc touch is able to print from her phone with bluetooth. Those two features are what made this printer very versatile and convenient.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome printer   November 23, 2009

Just bought this last night and I'm very impressed. Very nice quality photos and install went without any problems, works with my wireless router smooth. Printed docs from over 35 feet away through walls. Touchscreen works good. Can't wait to try out the [...], blue tooth features, and scanner. Was a little disappointed that router is required because I will have to buy one of those to use this printer when I move out but that's no biggie because to get it below $200 is a steal anyways. The photos print out look like photos from a Costco photo lab. I bought this for the wireless printing and when you have a laptop that moves all over the house then the advantage of a wireless printer is unbelievable. Now I will do better in school. I don't care for the price of ink because $40 every semester is probably what it'll cost and that's inexpensive for the convenience of wireless features. Plus, Amazon throws out deals on ink all the time and if you get desperate you can always by refill ink and use a power drill to refill the blotter but that's a little crazy when a person can afford it.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous Printer!   November 21, 2009

This is the easiest printer to install that I have ever owned. The instructions were very clear and straightforward. The printer is fast and the print quality is excellent, especially the photographs.

The only "down side" (if you can even call it that) is it can be a bit noisy, especially during startup. However, it is a fair tradeoff for the speed and quality of the printing.

I heartily recommend this all-in-one printer!

5 out of 5 stars And Then I Saw Her Face... Now I'm a Believer!   November 20, 2009

I've long just assumed Canon was the brand for anything photo-related-- cameras, paper, ink, and printers. I owned HPs years ago, before digital cameras were any good, and I hadn't bothered to try them out again to see how they might have improved. I was happy with my Canon photo printers, so when my old one recently died, I bought a new Canon Pixma MP620, one of their latest-and-greatest all-in-one printers. As far as features go, it's pretty close to this HP model.

I installed the HP Photosmart Premium in about half an hour. Most of that time was spent just sitting and waiting for the printer to do whatever it does during installation-- there was nothing difficult about it except that there was no USB cable included. (Hey, there are still some of us backward people out here who don't have wireless/Ethernet connections.)

To be clear, I don't care about the fancypants features. I don't print pictures from my phone, I don't have any need for wireless printing, etc. The touch screen is a nice feature for sure, but what I care about is print quality, period. I take lots of photos and I want them to print out as well as possible.

So I did a comparative test. I printed out a family portrait on my Canon Pixma, and then the same one on my new HP Photosmart Premium. And I literally had to do a double-take: the HP one was crisper and clearer. I particularly noticed the difference in the faces: facial shading was more accurate and eyes were better defined.

The HP photo paper included is thinner than the standard Canon paper, which I don't like, but it obviously had no negative effect on quality.

I wish this also included fax capability.

Both photo paper and regular paper load into the front in two separate trays, so you can keep each stocked. A very minor complaint is that I would have liked a slider/guide in front of the paper as well as side to side, to stop paper from sliding forward. I got an error message saying no paper was loaded just because it wasn't pushed back far enough, which would not have happened if there was a guide in place.

But like I said, that's a very minor complaint. I'm very impressed.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Printer at an excellent price   November 17, 2009

I am very happy with this printer. I've had it just one week, but use it many times each day. I saw this same printer this weekend on sale at OfficeMax for $229. Just some things I noticed which may or may not be of concern.

1. Very few printed instructions. You need to access the HP Solutions Center, which is copied to your PC from the provided CDRom. It took me awhile to figure out how to scan, and that just pressing the scan button on the printer doesn't do it. (You need to access Scan menu within HP Solutions Center, from there you see the scan appear on your PC screen, and can crop etc).

2. Somewhat noisy -- the act of printing itself isn't too bad, but there is a crunching sound before and after it prints which I assume is the printer heads adjusting themselves. I thought I forgot to remove some packing but it is just the way it is.

3. Wireless setup -- was pretty easy - but an error of can't find serscan.sys file. Seems this is common based on related online inquiries, and you need to copy it from your Windows CDRom. I didn't have them. It may also be buried within your Windows System folder, so I searched online awhile, and downloaded the file to the proper directory to work.

Hopefully these are all the concerns I'll have. The test print of the provided photo had amazing color and crispness. Went out and bought 100 pack of HP Photo Plus paper 4" x 6" -- runs about $23 full retail.
