4 out of 5 stars So far so good!   November 29, 2009
Jan Caballero (Oakland, CA United States)
Just purchased these and put this together. Actually I had a friend put it together because the instructions were too long. Seemed like a lot to do. So perhaps Homedics could fix that. But once it was together it flowed nicely. The candles look realistic but that blinking thing it does reminds me of Christmas lights! Lucky for me I like Christmas.

All in all it's a-ok. Hope it lasts!

4 out of 5 stars Lasted over 2 years   November 19, 2009
A Mother of 2 Kidlets (Chicago suburbs)
I had ones of these and it lasted over 2 years. You do need more rocks for it...there are not enough in the kit...go to a craft store and purchase any kind of smooth rocks you like. As to the motor, mine was not too loud unless it was low on water.

My big sticking point was cleaning it. You should use distilled water in the fountain, but for those of you who can't, you need to clean it regularly. Mine was used every night, all night for 2 years and still functioned. The only reason I got rid of it was the fact that I could not get up into the candle area to clean it out. The hard water here made deposits that ended up smelling of dirt after a while. That certainly takes away from the soothing aspect of this fountain.

I want to get another, but after reading some of these reviews, I wonder if my good experience was a fluke or if the bad experiences listed here are.

4 out of 5 stars Attractive and inexpensive   September 20, 2009

Pros: Attractive, inexpensive, gives off a nice flickering calming light, flameless.

Cons: The motor is loud! I filled the water as high as I could and I could still hear it. I had to lower the speed of the motor half way and that helped some. The sound of the water is almost nonexistent, I had to place rocks in one of the candles and directy underneath where the water drips and then it sounded like a fountain. It also does not come with enough rocks to completely fill the empty spaces.

Overall: This is a decent product for the price. The light it gives off is very soothing for bedtime. I keep it on my nightstand and turn it on when going to sleep, it has helped to drown out the sound of the cars and help me relax. If you're creative in the placement of rocks and experiment with water and motor levels you can make it work out well for you!

I've since purchased the homedics silver springs? fountain and it is soooo much better than this fountain! The pump on this fountain is SO loud in comparison that I don't even like running it anymore and without placing rocks in the middle candle it makes no water sounds whatsoever. Yes it is attractive and it does give off a soothing flicker but now that I have seen what a fountain is suppose to do I think this one really sucks in comparison. They really need to do something about the pump noise on this one! I think it's really a shame because it is quite attractive but the mechanics need to be improved. I would give three stars if I had to do over again.

3 out of 5 stars Don't expect the lights to last.   September 14, 2009
jm (Minneapolis)
I bought two of these fountains, and the lights stopped working after three months on the first one, the lights on the second one lasted slightly longer. The fountain itself still works on both, and for the price it wasn't that much of a loss. But it was disappointing. If the sound is more important than the looks, this is a decent, affordable fountain.

5 out of 5 stars fountain of relaxation   August 20, 2009

I saw this fountain in the waiting room of counselor three years ago and really liked it. I have it sitting on my altar. It really is beautiful when it is in a darken room with the light of the candles dances across the walls. It makes you feel like time has stood still.
