It didnt work as expected November 20, 2009 Dave (Sacramento, CA) I used this on my dog and used the smallest blade attachment. I had to go over the same spot on his hair multiple times to get it to the desired length. The blade that cuts is plastic and looks cheap. The only good thing is it comes in a nice little case. I would rather have a nice trimmer and keep it in a plastic bag. If I could do it again, I would just buy a wahl trimmer used for humans. I think that would work much better because they are known for making nice quality hair trimmers.
Clippers November 2, 2009 Sarah C. Barr (Texas) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a pretty cat with long hair. She does not like other people, so taking her to the groomer is not an option. She gets pretty hostile. I bought these clippers to use on her. Because of the reviews, I was hoping they would work pretty well. They are better than the other clippers I have had before, but they are by no means "perfect." Would not necessarily recommend-esp. not for matted hair problems...
Great Clippers October 17, 2009 Jason P. Black (West Coast Cali) Clippers are perfect for home use. No need to buy expensive commerical grade if you are just using it for one or two dogs. These work just fine!!
not overly impressed October 1, 2009 Sharon (Chicago, IL) Previous to this purchase, I was using a human hair clipeer on my labradoodle. It worked great for about 5 or 6 haircuts, then it jammed up. I did some research and decided on this model...seemed like it had decent reviews and a decent price. I've used it once on my dog. My first impression is that I'm not very impressed. I don't feel like it cut as cleanly as my old clipper. I went over and over the same area, but it still seemed to leave "tracks". After I was done I took the blade off, as instructed, to clean it out. It was easy to remove, but for the life of me, I couldn't get that blade back on the clipper. Frustrated, I put everything away with the blade stuck in the box. I will have to enlist a more technical helper to get the blade back on before the next cut. I will give it another try, but I'm left wondering if the cheaper brand at the big box pet stores would do just as well or better. To be continued...
Not the quietest but it does the job well September 11, 2009 J. Offenbach (N VA) The Andis 21420 is the third model of dog clippers I've used in my Cairn Terrier's 15 1/2 years of life and it's superior to the others. Actually the first tool I used was a Wahl marketed for humans and that didn't last very long. I like the length of the power cord, the hard plastic storage case, the assorted clipper combs and the durability of the clipper. I do not like the loud sound it makes, especially when the comb slips out of the housing which has happened on several occasions. Even with the comb securely fastened, the motor is rather loud. Since my dog is now nearly deaf, it's not an issue, but it does get me nervous nevertheless. As with all others I've used, when used for more than a few minutes, the clipper gets hot. I simply turn it off for a few minutes and while taking a little break from the grooming, comfort the dog. It is important to not only oil the blades but to clean them out completely of little hairs that become entrapped. I use a little stiff brush and even follow up with the blow dryer. The shape of this clipper is very comfortable to hold in the hand and the weight of it is very balanced. I imagine that it would be a nice model to use for multiple grooming sessions without tiring the hand or wrist. With care, this should last for many more years and other dogs.
