Premium Portable Ultrasonic Ultrasound Device November 25, 2009 James A. Gans (bloomington, in usa) When I researched and purchased this ultrasound device I was suffering from acute bicep tendonitis. I still have it but not quite as acutely. I have chosen to try to remedy this myself rather than going to a doctor who would probably recommend a shot of cortisone. Regarding the ultrasound you can spend anywhere from $250 to $60 for exactly the same device. I researched and researched and discovered they are all the same unit. Now, if you are looking for immediate relief first try an ice pack. It will do what you'd hope the ultrasound would do in a shorter amount of time, relieve pain/inflammation. With that said it may be that the ultrasound device will act as an adjunct to the ice for the healing process. The verdict is still out for me. Make sure you have plenty of gel because you will use up a lot of it. So far my expenditures have been been much less than if I had been visit to a specialist. Perhaps the cortisone would've cleared it up by now but steroids can't be too good for you.
Very Good Product November 19, 2009 HootieToo (Concord, OH USA) Purchased this to help a badly sprained ankle. It has eased the pain and make movement much better. Have also used it on sore elbows, backs and necks. The results are not immediate, but after multiple applications, there is a noticeable improvement. It's not a magic cure all, but it does make stiffness and soreness better.
About the unit itself, it comes in a heavy duty plastic case and the quality of the unit seems to be very good. It does make a very slight buzzing sound which others have mentioned, but it is negligible. Regarding the heat or no heat question, there is none. You don't really know it's doing anything, but that's how ultrasounds work. Be prepared to purchase more gel since it works best when a generous amount is used.
Heel Spur Agony November 9, 2009 Bríd (Ireland) A little early to make a rating decision on this product as I have only been using it for 3 weeks. I am using it to treat severe inflamation caused by heel spurs. I have had this problem for about 10 months so I am not expecting any quick fix solution. It will be twelve to twenty four months before the Consultant can see me so I decided to self-help. At present I notice little improvement but am ever hopeful!!!
Good product July 6, 2009 C. Perrelli (CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This item delivered as ordered and does what is it designed for. As a home unit ultra-sound I found it very convenient. I would really only use this with the advice of an MD or Physical Therapist.
Premium Portable Ultrasonic Ultrasound Device July 4, 2009 Joy Raskin 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this ultrasound device a year and half ago. Since I'm a veteran of years of physical therapy, I really needed my own ultrasound device since it was the only thing beside icing that would allow my tennis elbow to heal. However, it doesn't last long. I tried to used it earlier this year and it wouldn't work. It's not heavy-duty, and only good for a year or so as I found out. I'm buying a replacement one as of now. It does work, but doesn't heat up, but then the professional ones that physical therapists uses don't heat up either. This device is good for repetitive strain injuries when you need to get the blood flowing thru the inflamed tissues and don't forget to use ice as well to keep inflammation down.
