good purchase April 8, 2009 V. Anand (New Jersey) Since this doesn't need any caps, this thermometer is better than the Braun I have used before. I bought it on sale so got a good price too.
Mabis Healthcare Instant Ear Thermometer March 18, 2009 Michelle (PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i had the same "problem" with what i thought were inaccurate readings-- but it wasn't really a problem, i don't think. i think when you check the same ear over and over you cool your ear down with the device and change the reading. once i stopped taking 3+ readings in a row in one ear and tested both ears only one time each, I ALWAYS got the same reading. try that...
after that, the buttons are simple to use, the glow in the dark feature is nice, and it stands up to being tossed by a todder. nice. our toddler also can sit still for a second, so it actually is useful. and it serves as a play phone when not used to measure temps, b/c toddler can hold it too.
i'd buy it again.
im not sure why i'm giving it 4 out of 5, not 5 out of 5, but hey, it's an ear thermometer, how exciting is that?
I do not recommend this January 10, 2009 Yellem I bought this almost an year back. Recently, I took it along to our pediatrician's office for my kid's visit and this devise under reported fever by 2 degrees F. This was after multiple readings and taken by me and the nurse. So I do not recommend this at all.
Operator error or just not accurate? July 26, 2008 Robyn I really like the ease of use of this item. My problem lies with the different results I get. I can take what I think are identical readings in one ear and get slightly different results. Then if I compare with readings from my other ear the numbers get even further apart. I just got an oral thermometer that tracks pretty well with an ear thermometer at our doctor's office. The Mabis ear thermometer will usually be 1-2 degrees different than either of those. I can't rely on it, which is unfortunate because I really love the backlit screen, memory settings, travel case it comes with, and how it beeps to indicate when you're running a fever.
Good thermometer, easy to use April 24, 2008 Kristine Weeks (Pasadena, CA United States) This is a good thermometer, easy to use. It makes a noise when it's done reading your temperature, which makes it easy to take your own. I also like that you don't have to use any disposable parts, which is sanitary enough if you're using it just on your family.
