Absolutely worth every penny and more! October 28, 2009 Cool Life in AZ (Oro Valley AZ) I'm 60 F with bad joints and especially my ankles have been aching badly just from walking around the house. Using moon boots and other rather bulky supports I have been able to keep walking. Wrapping ace bandages on my ankles/feet was a solution but way too time consuming and due to my other health problems not feasible. I was getting pretty desperate when the DR's eyes were gleeming as he told me that the only help would come from fusing my ankles surgically.
After that shock I thought of trying some more practical ankle supports. These Futuro Ankle supports are the best!! Better than what I was hoping for. I have tried sock like elastic supports and also Full90 Performance Soccer Right Ankle Support from Amazon which I am shipping back because they were uncomfortable and extremely difficult to put on and take off. Those supports have a tight cuff that you have to slip your foot thru and then there is only one strap coming from under the foot to adjust the support - definitely not anything to help my foot/ankle problem.
These Futuro supports are 100 % fantastic and on the first day I went out shopping and spent a good part of 4 hrs on my feet. Instead of extreme pain for the night and rest for the next 2 days I was just fine. No swelling, no pain, and in the morning is was able to wiggle my ankles in bed without pain.
I needed support to keep my foot together - (I have high arches and my ankles feel like they are falling apart with my leg falling thru) - and to keep my ankles from rotating due to prior injuries/surgeries. These supports do just that in the most comfortable way and without any rubbing or other problems.
I wore them on bare feet with sandals. They felt a little warm around the ankle but not to a point of getting sweaty.
They are easy to slip on and very easy to adjust the two elastic straps coming from under the arch for a perfect custom fit around the ankle. I was able to leave the cuff fairly loose so the only sensation of pressure came from under my foot. The elastic is very comfortable under the foot and I could not feel the edges at all like I did with all ACE type support.
I have a large frame, 180 lbs, and a size 9 W foot with permanently swollen ankles and these fit just great. They did not create any swelling of the foot or leg which I was worried about - I guess because the strap around the ankle does not have to be tight. Just snug. They look like they are well made and I would guess they will last for a few months. THANK YOU Futuro and Amazon I am walking again!! I could not be happier with a product!
pretty good brace July 1, 2009 S. Gardner (SLC, UT) I have chronic ankle problems that require long term use of ankle braces and I have tried them all they are either to bulky or don't fit right. This brace works pretty good for what I need but the drawback I have with it is that it does tend to slip down during the day and losen which takes away some of the support that it has to offer.
So far so good June 16, 2009 K. Mahendran (California, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this product a bit over 6 months ago. I had sprained my left ankle terribly playing basketball, and it took over 5 months to recover. And I finally wanted to get back to my sport, Tennis. There is way too much lateral movement in Tennis, so I decided I had to get this brace in order to prevent any further injuries.
The brace is very comfortable it will feel awkward for the first few days, but once you get past it, you won't even feel it being there, meaning it just won't bother you. I had never even twisted my ankle, as in the brace hadn't had the need to stop my ankle from twisting. I guess that means it's working. Just yesterday I sprained my right ankle although not as badly, not even swollen, and realized that I probably should use both of the braces that I ordered. I got the two pack of this product.
The brace itself is quite durable, have been using it for over 6 months, and velcro seems to hold up quite well. It's got this semi hard plastic that prevents the ankle sprains. Well designed and very comfortable, pretty dam good for tennis, if it's good for tennis should be good for pretty much anything.
Wear the brace over the socks, try not to wear those ankle socks. I wear the brace sometimes with the ankle socks, once again it might bother you for the first couple of days, but it's fine after. And get two and wear them on both ankles, because you are prone to spraining again if you have sprained the ankle before.
good support May 18, 2009 David G. Hopkins (Austin,Tx.) After decades of sports injuries poorly treated I have no medial or lateral support in both ankles. While walking my dog,I began to fall having encountered a small dip in the walkway. My first pair of Futuro ankle supports did the trick of supporting both ankles and keeping me in an upright position. I wore them so much that I wore them out with the medial and lateral plastic supports started to pop out at the bottom of the wrap. A few more stitches in that area would be appreciated.
Overall they do the job very well and I am wearing my second set of Futuro Ankle Stabilizers. Perhaps I will get more mileage out of this pair.
Great accessory for the active person! May 8, 2009 Marcus D. Moore (Baltimore, MD) I bought this for my strained ankle as a result of a tennis incident. I am very pleased with the support it provides and it was very economical. In fact I sold the additional unit to a friend.
I highly recommend this product!
