2 out of 5 stars the vapor comes out of the bottom of the humidifier   November 30, 2009

I'm not sure if a filter is needed for this spongebob. When I first bought it last winter, the humidifier worked great, and it's very quiet. But now it refuses to work properly. The vapor comes out from the bottom instead of the top holes. The reason, I think, is because its fan(in the bottom) stops to work.

4 out of 5 stars Some difficulty in finding a place to put this   November 29, 2009

I bought 2 humidifiers from Crane, first the Penguin, then this cow. Quality-wise, the cow is better than the penguin, the finish on the water tank feels sturdier and more polished. I leave this on in my baby's room when she sleeps and it works quite well. The only problem is finding a place to put it. You're not supposed to put it too close to walls and other surfaces otherwise the surfaces will become moist, since the mist comes out of the ears which are angled ~45% outwards it means you can't have any walls/furniture on either side of the cow. For that reason I prefer the penguin since the mist vents from the mouth of the penguin.

2 out of 5 stars Cute, but not practical   November 28, 2009
Happy Mom (Phoenix, AZ)
We bought this humidifier for our nursery because it had many good reviews, but after reading the instruction packet, we decided to take it back without even using it. The reason: it is not supposed to be put on anything that could be damaged by water (wood, metal, etc.) and cannot be placed on a towel because the fan is on the bottom. That pretty much leaves plastic furniture, which we have, but another instruction is that it should be kept out of the child's reach (reasonable enough), but plastic furniture could never be stable enough to repel an adventurous child trying to reach the very cute humidifier. We want something that will be usable as our child grows and learns to walk, but this obviously will not work for us.

On another note for those still considering buying it, while it says "1 gallon" in the title of this product, the box says 2.1 gallons.

I like it, its working great so far, I only use it in my bedroom so its prefect. Its quiet and small, which is what I wanted.

4 out of 5 stars Good Product   November 19, 2009

Works almost too well. My son came down with a cold and was very congested. Our old humidifier tank cracked. (It was expensive and the filter didn't last nearly as long as stated, even though we diligently cleaned the whole unit every day it was used.) Anyway, the first night we used the Crane cool mist my son slept through the night and did not here him cough once. The best feature about this unit is you don't need a filter. Just fill it up the tank and turn it on. My best advice is make sure you clean it every morning after the kids wake up. Oh, and it is much faster and easier to clean because there is no filter.
