Product Description
This mini dehumidifier has been design to adsorb moisture from small enclosed areas (maximum area: 10'x 10'). It will help protect clothes and valuables from the damaging effects of mold/mildew and moisture rot. It is 100% renewable and needs no power to operate. Just hang the eva-dry unit in a closet, or you can place it in other small enclosed spaces, and it will start to adsorb moisture. There are no batteries required or cords to plug in, the unit works without power. There is an indicator window with special "moisture meter crystals" that change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be "renewed". The unit will adsorb approximately 8 to 10 ounces of moisture (depending on humidity levels this should take between 3 - 8 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed it cannot leak or spill. This unit uses a specialized engineered crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic and completely safe. When the indicator crystals turn Pink it is time to "re-new" the unit. Simply remove the unit from where it is adsorbing moisture and plug it into a power outlet.

2 out of 5 stars Beads everywhere   November 18, 2009
John P. Frazeur (Minneapolis, Mn USA)
I only had it for about a week and it showed no sign of doing anything when I accidently knocked it off the counter and beads went everywhere. Trust me, you are not going to get the beads back in the box.

4 out of 5 stars eva-dry dehumidifier for a safe   November 7, 2009
Paul
I use this for a safe. It is good for that and going in and out of a safe once per week, you probably have to charge it once every three months.

Do not expect this to dry out a closet or bathroom. You will be re-charging it all the time.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic for the keezer!   November 7, 2009
J. Claridge (Chicago)
"What's a keezer?" you ask? It's a modified chest freezer that stores and dispenses your homemade beer. By modifying the thermostat, the chest freezer stays at around 40-45F. Since you're using a compressor meant for a freezer, the condensation inside is inevitable.

Enter the Eva-Dry! I use 2 of these and they work FANTASTICALLY soaking up cups and cups of condensation inside my keezer. When one turns pink, I pull it out and plug it in for 24 hours to dry it out. Then it goes back inside the keezer.

I know they work because when I forget to replace one (leaving it plugged into the wall), I have a cup or so of water in the bottom in just a few days.

I've been using mine since Oct 08 (>1 year now) and they are still going strong - no apparent loss of moisture absorbing capacity yet! That was my biggest concern, that they would last for a few months and then peter out. So, I waited until not to write this review.

Couldn't be happier!

5 out of 5 stars Small and effective for gun safes   November 6, 2009
Leonardo (Martinez, Ca United States)
Great item for smaller safes. My use for a gun safe. This purchase was for my father' safe. We live in central California so humidity is not a problem. I have to recharge mine every three to four weeks. Price was good with free shipping due to other purchases.

Get 2 so one can be charged while the other is about to be used up.
