I don't have much to add to what's already been said. Mainly I just wanted to add another thumbs up to this product. I used it after several lice shampoo treatments, just to make sure I got rid of everything. It picked up a few dead nits, so I could see it working. I thought the narrow teeth would be painful to get through my long hair, but as long as I went slow, I had no problems at all. Highly recommend!
Great comb for fine hair November 15, 2009

It seems my daughter gets head lice every time anybody in her school gets it. This comb plus a lubricant like olive oil or dimethicone (Lice MD, it's pricey, but washes out easily) to make the process less painful has been the way we've settled on fighting it. She has a lot of hair, but the hair is fine. Someone with very coarse hair isn't going to be able to get the teeth through, they are really close set. Which is what makes the comb effective for kids with hair like my girl's.
As an aside, I know the conventional wisdom is to disinfect every object a head lice infected kid has touched, but I don't bother to wash anything in the house. Head lice can't live off a human head for long, so I save my energy for doing really thorough comb-throughs every night until the problem seems to be gone, and then every 3 or 4 days for a couple weeks after. I think going nuclear as soon as you notice the problem gives the false security that the problem is beaten before it really is, that's what happened for us the first couple of times she got nits. And I think that chemicals to treat lice are useless. I'm not a crunchy-granola type, I'd boil the whole house and the kids in bleach and pesticide if I thought it would take care of the nits in one go. It's just that pesticides don't work very well.

After spending two weeks pulling LIVE lice from our hair while using NIX and the blue plastic comb provided, our Nit Free Terminator Lice Comb came in the mail. I was shocked when the first stroke of my hair filled the comb with dozens of nits when I hadn't seen anything from the blue comb except a few live bugs. My family and I had been miserable with very itchy heads during this process. Within two days of using the new comb we were itch and bug free! I am convinced, after my experience, that the secret to eradicating lice is using a really good comb twice a day, not using the chemical products that, in our case, didn't even kill the live bugs. I read the reviews about it being hard to clean, but I simply used an old tooth brush to clean off the nits under the faucet, it worked great.

I used this comb daily for 5 days and it got all the lice and nits out of my daughters hair. I tried a plastic nit comb which did nothing and another metal one which took out some of the lice. This was the only one to get everything. This comb solved our lice nightmare.

Be prepared to do a LOT of combing. I devoted a number of hours to it, and went back over and over the hair. A small price for not having to spot another heinous critter smiling from my daughter's scalp. This comb removes adults AND nits. In my experience, no chemicals are necessary to get rid of the problem...only thoroughness. The comb might be a bit hard on the hair, but wouldn't work so well otherwise.
