Works well, but no difference from lower-priced brands November 18, 2009

I've tried a variety of probiotics and am 100% sold on the benefits - much better digestive order and regularity. I've been using mostly generic brands, but thought I'd try this one to see if there is any difference.
On the plus side, the Sustenex works very well, and you only need to take one capsule per day (although the cap size is somewhat large). But, I've not noticed any difference from the generic brands that cost far less per dose, even though with some of them you have to take two caps instead of just one.
If you're on the fence regarding probiotics it's not hype - it really does work, and makes a big difference in digestive health and well-being, especially if you suffer from IBS, irregularity or bloating. Start taking them - you won't be sorry. This is an excellent product but you can get the same benefits with the generics you can get in discount stores or warehouse clubs.

Took these for a month, no effect whatsoever.
Only thing that works for me is Miralax, app. three times a week. Check wih your doctor, but my gastro-enterologist says it's safe. "Liquid fiber" he calls it.

I have yet to try this product, but am currently taking a heavy duty antibiotic to combat a chronic sinus infection. Since antibiotics can kill all the healthy bacteria in the intestines, I am considering trying this product (as I'm not the biggest fan of yogurt). I've seen some negative reviews of this product and wonder a few things: 1) Are there alternatives to this product? and 2) Does this pill have to be taken once a day or can it be taken once a week? I would prefer a product that will be beneficial even if only taken once a week while I am taking an antibiotic.

I switched to this product since it was 1/2 the price of Align. Big mistake! Didn't work and made problems worse. I'm back on Align and bloating is gone again. Align is the only pro-biotic that has worked for me and I have tried 10+ brands over 10 years.

I've had horrible ibs for years. To the point where I'm reluctant to leave the house because I get sudden urges and have to go NOW! I'm usually in the bathroom anywhere from 8-10 times a day. It's been awful.
I turned to probiotics about 3 months ago because I couldn't stand living that way anymore. I started off using the Phillips colon health. I didn't see an immediate response, but I kept taking it anyway. Once that was gone, I bought a box of sustenex. I've recently been having actual formed stools and going maybe 3-4 times a day instead, which for me is HUGE. I've gained more confidence to go out and enjoy life as I'm not always running to the bathroom and even when I do have to go, it's not usually as immediate a need.
The only real complain I have with this product is that it tastes AWFUL. And I'm not exaggerating either. It's NASTY. As soon as it hits my mouth and the flavor gets in my mouth it makes me gag. I think once I'm done with this box, I'm going to look for a similar product made by someone else.
If you can stand the taste, it seems to work. So give it a try. What have you got to lose?
