Good enough for me! October 23, 2009 Patrick Miller-Rhodes Here's the story: I had originally bought a previous brain model. It was cheaper, and I wasn't looking for anything beyond a very basic model. So I went ahead and bought it. A few days later, I get an email. "Blah blah blah, the model you have purchased is on backorder blah blah blah. Blah blah, we're upgrading you to this model, and we'll refund your order." Yes! In the end, in exchange for waiting approx. 2 days extra for it to ship, I received an upgraded model for free. (If only they knew I was an extremely patient guy...)
As for the model itself, it's decent. If you're an undergrad psych major like myself, you won't complain. The model's pretty heavy, and it is a pain to disassemble the parts at times. Overall, however, a brain model is a brain model is a brain model. And even if my order wasn't refunded, I still would recommend it for the price. I've posted several photos of my mode, be sure to take a gander before deciding to buy.
Oh, and Online Health Supply has phenomenal customer service. After they emailed me, they also called me to clarify what went on and to apologize. 5 stars for their customer service.
Budget Brain September 26, 2009 Allison Tripp Some regions are a bit hard to match up with the map that is included.
Nice idea but poor construction September 14, 2009 C. Castillo I purchased this exact brain model for myself several years ago to describe brain injuries to families, and have been very pleased with it. However, I recently purchased another model as a gift to my fellow. When it arrived, the parts (especially the cerebellum) would not stay together. Even when sitting in the molded stand, the cerebellum tends to fall off. I was quite disappointed with the quality of the construction this time around, and hope that the manufacturer takes this into account.
Good teaching tool for non specialists September 13, 2009 Emil Ysona This model is an excxellent way to learn basic neuroanatomy. The parts are easy to see and contrasting colors separate the areas. A bit expensive.
Poor quality October 3, 2008 M. Zakhour (Allentown, PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
In general it shows sufficient detail But the downside is
It's very heavy a rock like mass.
Second it's intend to be assembled and disassemble but the design is very poor in using screw as a pin to hold two pieces of this kind of rubbery material together making it pain to take them apart and put them together.
