5 out of 5 stars Results are in: These _work_   August 25, 2009

I take regular blood tests as a factor of my employment. In the past, I've had high cholesterol and triglycerides. Three months ago I decided to start taking daily fish oil supplements. Two months ago I picked up this particular kind. A month ago I started taking two of these per day, based on the fact that a coworker told me about his daily intake as directed by a doctor.

So, what was the result so far?

My triglycerides dropped over 30% in 3 months!
My overall cholesterol dropped, while at the same time my good cholesterol went up.

And these are the medically measurable results. Other things I've noticed:

My mood has improved dramatically. It takes a lot to break me out of a good mood now.
My hair and skin both look and feel much healthier.
I seem to have slightly lower blood pressure as well, but I can't be sure.

So, long story short: For me, these just plain _work_. And there is zero fishy aftertaste or burping. The price is right as well. You have nothing to lose, just beware of the warning labels as with all supplements.

5 out of 5 stars All the Omega-3's, none of the fish burps   August 16, 2009

This supplement is particularly high in Omega-3 oils. Enteric coating works...no fish taste or fish burps.

My cardiologist liked my cholesterol results from Crestor, but was kind of murmuring darkly about my good cholesterol. That was still short of ideal. I asked him about fish oil and he said it might help and to go to the pharmacia and get some.

Now is not the time for me to go into my alternative medicine rant, but do know that I am highly suspicious of health food sorts of places.

Still, I went there, listened to the earnest sales rap with all the expected pseudo-science cliches' and walked out with a small bottle of real pure (the other brands, she explained, were contaminated with lead, mercury, atomic waste, evil spirits...you know). It also contained Co Q-10 which we need, she said, to counter-act the statins.

I was also $40 lighter, for not many capsules. Two per day, the instructions stated.

When, in a very short time it seemed, I needed more of these I got cold feet. I looked through the Amazon offerings and found this Kirkland brand. Lots of capsules, full strength, no harmful ingredients, one-third the cost, even enteric coated...but, no Co Q-10. What about that? I called the cardiologist and he said it was not necessary. Evidently the Mayo Clinic ran some actual tests...oh, well, you know how that goes.

So, my next labs are three months away. Will these capsules help? I don't feel any differences, but maybe that means nothing. If the tests are good, I will add to this review. Actually, if they aren't I will add to it anyway. Either way.

Interestingly, the instructions call for one capsule a day, rather than the expected two. I have no fish burps. No leaking capsules. It was shipped quickly and with Prime shipping as well. This is as good as it gets. I will buy this brand until my next tests and if they are good, I will keep buying them.

I also bought, cooked and ate some delicious fresh sardines. I cook them in olive oil. That is probably a better way to get your Omegas, but the local sardine supply is unreliable and who knows how many of them you have to eat to get a measurable benefit.

Many reviewers experienced no dreaded fishy after-taste. I suppose I'm the exception. I've passed this product on to my unsuspecting husband.
