4 out of 5 stars Great thermometer   November 6, 2009

I have several different bbt thermometers. This is my favorite, because of the backlight. It is true that the backlight goes off after you initially turn it on, but when your temperature reading is complete you just press the button again and the backlight turns back on and shows the reading. I also like that you hear the beeps to tell you this thermometer is working. On my other ones if too much time would go by I would have to check to make sure it was really working and that meant turning on a light and then doing it all over again, which would make the reading inaccurate, since you had to get up and turn on a light to see the thermometer. The light is great and the thermometer works great.

5 out of 5 stars Really like this thermometer   November 1, 2009

I like that this thermometer beeps to tell me it is reading my temp correctly. The display is big enough to read with bleary early morning eyes. It is as accurate as my glass thermometer. If you press the on/off button after taking your temp the display lights up again before switching off so that you can read your temp in the dark and it is retained in the memory. If you need to check your temp later to chart it you can switch the thermometer back on, read the temp, and switch it back off so that it will still be retained in the memory. No complaints here!

2 out of 5 stars Stopped working within 3-mos   October 21, 2009

I liked it during the two incomplete cycles I used it to track. But what good is it if it breaks so fast? I'm buying another brand this time.

5 out of 5 stars Easy & reliable   October 18, 2009

I've been using this thermometer for a few months now and love it. I read the negative reviews & think some women may have just gotten a lemon. Others are being way too picky. I keep it on my nightstand. When my alarm goes off, I shut off the alarm and immediately grab the thermometer to take my temp. It beeps intermittently to let me know its working then gives 3 quick, consecutive beeps to let me know its done. Then I shut it off and put it down. It stores the last temp taken so you do NOT need to record your temp right away on paper. I usually look at the temp before I shut it off. But when I get out of bed later, I just turn it back on when I'm ready to record the temp on my chart. Could they make that any more convenient? I think not. The beeping is a little loud in a quiet room, but I found that it doesn't really bother my husband b/c as I said I'm using it immediately after my alarm goes off. So he was awakened by that noise anyway. BBT charting can be frustrating & stressful. I think this thermometer makes it as convenient & easy as its going to get.

3 out of 5 stars Sounds good ... until you hear it . .   October 14, 2009

The idea of beeping every 7 seconds may sound like a good idea. You really want to make sure you're keeping the thermometer in the right spot the whole time, right? But at 6 am, when you're partner is still trying to sleep, the incessant beeping is really quite annoying. If you get up later than your partner, or if your partner is an EXTREMELY heavy sleeper, this might be fine for you. My partner is a pretty heavy sleeper, but this still wakes him up. I'm going to get a different thermometer and donate this one to goodwill.
