I was thrilled beyond get-out when I got my first Flair. It IS a good vacuum for bare floors of any kind and at first, it works even on small area & throw rugs. I dont mind cleaning out the cup and hubby blows out the filter with the air compressor hose in the garage. It DOES fall over easily and the cord isnt long.
However, on each of my Flairs, although I have only used it for area rugs (I have a regular vacuum for the few carpeted rooms I have) the belts blow out for the "carpet" setting (beater bar moving setting). The belts were difficult to find and it took FOREVER for them to arrive. Hubby was able to easily replace them but they sure don't last. The bar gets clogged easily with long hairs (my daughter & I both have long hair) and I would often need to cut it out with scissors. I love how it goes quite a ways under cabinets, bookcases, and even my couch!
However, it has fallen over so many times that the little latch to hold the cup in the vacuum has snapped off & I now have to use packing tape to keep it in. Its time to move on to something with newer technology!

I was looking for a small vaccum for my wood floors and this one just fits the bill. It has a lot a power for a small lightweight vac with additional power for my small carpets. I just love it. Vcook

This perfect for quick light pickups. Keep you full-sized vacuum for carpet and major cleaning. The swivel head allows easy access under beds and most furniture.
Be sure to keep filter empty and clean since it not large. We first used one of these at a Destin beach condo and it did not work well. The only problem was it needed to be cleaned. Found the best price on Amazon (Hoover store in Destin was $80)

This stick vac had many positive reviews, but it hasn't been great for me. It's fine for hardwood, but it does very poorly on my rugs. Even after going over certain areas repeatedly, there are many things it never picks up. I also have to regularly turn it upside down and pull out clumps of dust, fibers, etc. that clog that "mouth" of the vacuum. And when I flip the switch from "bare floors" to "carpet," it spits out clumps of dust, hair, etc. onto the rugs that I have to pick up by hand. I realize stick vacuums aren't for heavy-duty cleaning, and this is the only one I've owned, so perhaps this is on par with your typical stick vacuum. And maybe the types of rugs I have just aren't a good fit for this vacuum, but I wouldn't purchase it again or recommend it to anyone else. I'm looking to replace it with something that can do floors and rugs equally well.

I really love this vacuum, so much so that when it died after a year I bought another one! I am really hoping my second model will last a bit longer. I live in a smallish, 1 bedroom apartment with a couple of area rugs. This little vacuum is fantastic at cleaning the hardwood, tile in the bathroom & kitchen, plus the area rugs. We have two hairless cats contributing to the mess, and this baby is awesome. It will pick up all the garbage they throw onto the floor, plus the kibble that falls out of their food bowl, etc. Also, I have really long hair and this always picks up my long strands. (You do have to cut the hair out of the beater bar though, as with all vacuums). I also really love the bagless feature. You can see how full the dirt cup is, and empty when necessary. You can also pull the filter out and clean that. It is DISGUSTING, and amazing to see what you're picking up in the vacuum.
Cons: It does over-heat as another reviewer stated. Plus, like I mentioned earlier, I have already had one die on me. For the price, I would hope it would last longer than 1 year. (And we are not talking about a year of really heavy use. I vacuum about once a week and have a 650 square foot apartment.) Also, it would be AWESOME if this thing had some attachments. I'd love to get cobwebs on the ceiling and dust off the fan in the bathroom. And like everyone else, I wish the cord was longer. I have to unplug whenever I change rooms.
But all in all, this is a fantastic vacuum for apartment living. It's light, easy to use, and fast!
